Liverpool’s promising academy goalkeeper Harvey Davies has completed a season-long loan move to League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
The highly-rated 19-year-old shot stopper, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool, will gain valuable first-team experience with The Railwaymen under manager Lee Bell.
Davies will be competing with Crewe’s long-serving Welsh goalkeeper Dave Richards for a place in the starting line-up during the 2023–24 season.
With Alisson Becker the undisputed No.1 goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher still at the club and Adrian signing a new deal, Davies would have had very little chance of seeing any first team action next season.
Davies joined the Reds’ academy at the age of nine, and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2021 following a string of impressive performances for the youth sides.
He has represented Liverpool in the EFL Trophy and was named on the bench for UEFA Champions League matches against Red Bull Salzburg and both legs of the quarter-final against Real Madrid during the 2020-21 season.
He was also a substitute for the FA Community Shield win over Manchester City last July.
Davies, who was was part of the England U19 team that won the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, will join his new teammates when they return for pre-season training on 26 June.
