Hi, what are you looking for?

Write for Us

We are always looking for new authors who are passionate about Liverpool FC. If you have something to say about our beloved football club, we want to hear about it.

Whether you want to offer our readers a fresh perspective on a topic that is keeping you up at night, or you know what went right (or wrong) with the team’s latest performance and want to share your thoughts with Kopites around the world, Kop Watch is the perfect platform to showcase your writing skills.

We will be honest, though: writing for Kop Watch takes work. Lots of it. We want your article to be at its best, and we will push you to get it there.

Writing for Kop Watch may be tough, but it is also rewarding. Thousands of Liverpool fans around the world will read your work, and you will also learn a lot in the process — about communicating your ideas, about writing, and even about the topic you thought you knew so well.

What we are looking for

You may submit a rough draft, a partial draft or a short pitch (a paragraph or two summarising your content and why it will resonate with our readers) coupled with an outline.

Please note that we only accept original content — we do not publish anything that has been published elsewhere (including on your blog).

Before you submit your article, take a moment to browse our recent posts to get a feel for the type of content we publish and to gain some insights on structuring and formatting your piece.

What we publish

We publish Liverpool FC-focused articles of anywhere between 600–3,000 words or more, depending on the complexity of the subject. 1,500 words is about average.

Articles often include a custom graphic or a licensed photograph. Articles may be casual in tone and content, or highly detailed and rigorously researched and edited.

All submitted content should be well-considered explorations of current topics about Liverpool Football Club, its fans and players or the wider Liverpool community.

How to submit your article

Send your article, draft or pitch to editorial@kopwatch.com, with “Article submission: Kop Watch” as the subject line.

You may also attach any supporting assets, such as charts, illustrations and licensed photographs.

What happens next?

A Kop Watch editor will review your submission and determine whether it is a potential fit for our audience. If so, the whole team will review and discuss it. This happens once a week.

The editor will collect the team’s feedback and get back to you with detailed notes.

Once you have addressed our comments, send your revised draft back to us (we will provide you with an email address to send your revised article to). The team will discuss it again and let you know if we want to accept it.

If we accept your article, an editor will work closely with you on things such as formatting and style.

We will schedule the publication of your article as soon as any revisions are complete. Unfortunately, we will be unable to provide a specific publication date until the article is almost ready to go live.
